Hikakanji is a free study tool built to respect your privacy. It runs entirely in your browser and needs no account.
What we collect
Nothing. We do not collect, store, or sell any personal information. There is no sign-up, no login, and no analytics or tracking built into the site.
Data stored on your device
To make the app useful, a few preferences are saved in your browser's localStorage — only on your own device, and never sent anywhere:
- Which hiragana, katakana and kanji rows you've selected
- Your last-used tab, quiz options, theme and font
- A cache of anime titles for the Ani-Names game
You can remove all of it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for this page.
Third-party services
- AniList — the Ani-Names game loads public anime
information from the AniList API (
graphql.anilist.co). Your browser contacts AniList directly, so your IP address is visible to them as with any website request. See AniList's policies for details. - Speech — the “Play sound” button uses your browser's built-in speech synthesis. No audio is recorded or uploaded.
